About me
I'm Ruby, an experienced and dedicated Biology Teacher and Examiner with a passion for helping students of all abilities discover their potential, build confidence, and achieve exceptional results.
I specialise in personalised education, offering both one-on-one and group tuition. With over five years of experience teaching AQA, OCR, and Edexcel exam boards, I’ve worked with students ranging from primary to A-Level, with A-Level Biology being my most popular service.
I don’t just stand and deliver; my lessons are dynamic and engaging. Informed by the latest educational research, my approach includes questioning throughout, quizzes, exam practice, and using innovative tools and games. We play virtual match-up games, “Two Truths and a Lie,” debate science ethics, and much more. During the pandemic, I provided training and modelling of online learning tools to over 100 teachers across the North East.
Biology can be tricky, but my approach is simple: make it understandable. I use real-world examples, models, and analogies to break down complex scientific concepts, ensuring my students not only understand the material but also remember and apply it with ease.
Education is an ever-evolving field, and I’m committed to staying up to date with the latest research and innovations. I embed these findings into my teaching to provide the most effective educational experience possible.

A Little About My Personal Life
I live in Harrogate with my partner, daughter, and our Cocker Spaniel, Alba. I love spending time outdoors—whether it’s sunny or snowy—because I believe there’s no such thing as bad weather if you’re dressed for it!
I also enjoy travelling and exploring new places. I was fortunate to live in New Zealand for nearly three years and Australia for two, experiences that gave me unforgettable memories and a love for adventure.
At the end of a busy day, I find relaxation in cooking healthy meals and spending time with my daughter and Alba. These moments always bring me a sense of joy and calm.
